Hamburger Steaks & Gravy

Did you know that you can use Skinny Roux any time you need a brown “gravy” for something? One of the “fan favorites” with our keto meal prep customers is our “Hamburger Steaks & Gravy”, which we serve with a side of mashed cauliflower (all of which is gluten-free). As you will see in the recipe pictures below, we “mass produce” these, but you can easily scale this recipe down to a smaller family-sized pot. For our gravy, we use a ratio of 12 cups of beef broth to 1 jar of Skinny Roux. The onions and mushrooms are optional. What you’ll see in the pictures below is about 10 small yellow onions and 2 boxes of sliced mushrooms, all cooked in our 13-quart Magnalite pot.

When it comes to the seasoning, you can use whatever you’d like! For this particular batch, we used a seasoning that we were given as a Christmas gift from another small business owner here in our local area. For anyone who has lived in South Louisiana over the past 30 years, you are probably familiar with the old (and dearly loved) Burger Tyme restaurants, and the “Cajun Blaze” burger that was on their menu. Thankfully, due to popular demand, the family is now offering the original Cajun Blaze seasoning that was used at the restaurant back in the day, and we were SO EXCITED to use it in our “Hamburger Steaks & Gravy” recipe below! You can purchase the “All-Purpose” or “Low Salt” varieties on their website.
